xTool buying notes · Original dimension analysis

The 24-inch workbench trap.

A six-foot workbench can still be too shallow for your xTool. We compared five published machine-body sizes with eight named workbenches. In every pairing that exceeded the furniture rectangle, depth was part of the problem.

Measure front to back—not just side to side.

A listing that starts with “72-inch workbench” sounds spacious. But that number is its width. Two of our selected six-foot benches are only 25 inches deep. That is 635 mm, while xTool’s published P2S body depth is 639 mm. The machine rectangle exceeds the bench rectangle by 4 mm before adding any operating allowance.

On a 24-inch-deep bench, the P2S depth shortfall becomes 29.4 mm—about 1.16 inches. This is not a claim that the machine’s feet cannot be supported; we did not measure the feet. It is a warning that the entire published body rectangle does not sit inside that front-facing furniture rectangle. Do not infer that overhang is acceptable.

The P2S figures come from xTool’s metric technical-specification table. The 25-inch examples are the Seville UHD20292B and the Gladiator GAWB06HWEG.

“Within the rectangle” still leaves questions.

The S1’s 561 mm depth leaves 48.6 mm of total nominal depth on a 24-inch rectangle. The M2’s 569 mm depth leaves 40.6 mm. Those numbers are total spare depth, not clearance on each side, and not manufacturer-approved hose or service space. Width must also pass: the M2’s 610 mm body is 0.4 mm wider than an exact 24-inch square.

Use the metric values for the calculation. A rounded “24.0 inches” in a product summary is helpful for scale, but it can hide a small conflict at the boundary.

The 40-pair dimension check

We used all eight exact furniture records and all five non-conflicting body rectangles in our printout cohort. This is a selected directory—not a survey of every bench on sale. “Within” means only that both published dimensions contain the body rectangle in the listed front-facing orientation.

28 within / 12 exceeds. Neither label determines foot support, load capacity, stability, exhaust clearance, or safe operation. On a small screen, scroll the table sideways.

The IKEA name alone is not enough.

The two BROR records have different depths: 21.625 inches for SKU 303.332.86 and 15.75 inches for the drawer-equipped 704.943.00. In this front-facing screen, the F2 Ultra UV body is within the first rectangle but exceeds the second. Shopping by furniture family instead of the exact SKU can change the answer.

The UV rectangle could fit the second record geometrically if rotated 90 degrees. We did not screen rotated placement: controls, loading, cables, exhaust, and access may make it impractical. That distinction is why this table describes the orientation rather than labeling a bench universally “compatible.”

A 30-inch top is a next check, not a finish line.

The selected ULINE 72 × 30-inch top is the only record that contains the P2S body rectangle in this screen. It leaves 123 mm of total nominal depth spare. That does not approve the table or establish the right setup. Confirm equipment-foot placement, point loads, stability, surface suitability, and the exact machine instructions separately.

What this means for your xTool shortlist

Do not choose a smaller laser just to solve a furniture problem. Start with the materials, processing method, and project size you need; then find a support and room arrangement that satisfy the exact model’s requirements. These five machines are not interchangeable.

Check your project dimensions and compare F-series configurations before treating a body-size result as a buying recommendation.

xTool P2S

The P2S body exceeds seven of these eight front-facing furniture rectangles. If P2S is the right machine for your projects, investigate a deeper support rather than assuming extra width solves it.

xTool S1

The S1 body is within six selected furniture rectangles. On the 24-inch-deep records, only 48.6 mm of total nominal depth remains before any unmodeled operating needs.

xTool M2

The M2 body is also within six records. Its 610 mm width is slightly more than 24 inches, so a nominal 24-inch-square surface is not a full-body dimensional match.

xTool F2 Ultra UV

The F2 Ultra UV body is within seven records. The drawer-equipped BROR misses its front-facing depth. UV is a distinct machine configuration, not simply a smaller substitute for a CO₂ or diode model.

Make the next five minutes useful.

  1. Measure the actual clear surface. Exclude lips, obstructions, and occupied space. A published overall product dimension is not always the usable tabletop.
  2. Lay out the body at full size. Use our free Letter/A4 footprint printouts, print at 100%, and verify the calibration marks. Paper is a planning aid; remove it before operation.
  3. Add the things the rectangle omits. Document lid travel, exhaust, cables, controllers, materials, accessories, and service access using current manufacturer evidence. Never fill an unpublished allowance with a reassuring zero.
  4. Resolve support and installation questions. Ask the appropriate manufacturer or qualified professional about the full installed load, foot locations, stability, ventilation, electrical needs, and site permissions.
  5. Check delivery before checkout. A body that fits the bench can arrive in a package that fails the doorway. Use the delivery-path calculator and confirm the exact shipped bundle.

The useful conclusion is not “buy this bench.” It is “depth deserves its own line on the shopping checklist.” Catching that question before ordering is easier than reorganizing a workshop around a delivered machine.

Method, sources, and limits

Analysis published September 22, 2026, using the directory’s records checked 2026-09-16. We calculate each axis as furniture inches × 25.4 minus body millimeters. Both results must be nonnegative. No rotation, overhang allowance, load-rating calculation, accessory envelope, or operating clearance is added. Displayed inch equivalents are rounded; calculations use the metric values.

Results describe published rectangles, not traced silhouettes. Most bench sources give product dimensions; only the selected ULINE record is documented as a tabletop rectangle. The P2S dimensions source is regional to Australia and does not establish U.S. electrical, package, or configuration requirements. Confirm the exact regional SKU before acting.

This analysis does not include physical measurements, installations, or hands-on tests of these 40 combinations. The F1 Ultra and F2 Ultra Single/Dual are not included because the existing template cohort excludes conflicting body-dimension records. Their omission is not a judgment about product quality.

Machine-body evidence

Furniture sources are linked by exact model in the table. The workbench directory retains load-statement scope and configuration notes; the downloadable calculation sheet includes both sources, review dates, and signed width/depth differences for every pairing.
