What laser manufacturers publish—and leave unresolved.
This first annual benchmark audits public room-planning documentation for 8 selected current U.S.-market lasers. It measures documentation coverage—not product quality, real-room safety, code compliance, or brand performance.
- 8 models
- 6 fields each
- 48 observations
- First-party sources only
- Reproducible CSV
Closed size is common. Installable space is not.
Across 48 model-field observations, 21 were fully published, 13 were partial or scope-limited, 3 contained unresolved first-party conflicts, and 11 were not published in the cited public sources. Counting partial evidence as “usable with caveats” raises coverage to 70.8%, which is why the matrix reports status—not one misleading brand score.
0 of 8 profiles had a fully published numeric operating or service-clearance field in the cited sources. This means the audit did not find a usable public number for the others; it does not mean zero clearance is permitted or required.
Every status can be traced to a model record.
P3 80W CO₂
P2S 55W CO₂
S1 40W
M2 10W / 20W / 40W
K40+ 45W
Polar Lite 55W
Maker AF2028-60
Maker MF2028-100
Hover/focus behavior is not required to understand the matrix: every field’s full text, source list, and caveat is published in the installation geometry database and downloads.
A strict evidence audit—not a safety score.
Cohort and cutoff
The cohort includes current xTool P3, P2S, S1 40W, and M2 models plus OMTech K40+, Polar Lite, AF2028-60, and MF2028-100 models, scoped to accessible first-party U.S.-market pages as of September 11, 2026. Legacy xTool M1 Ultra is retained elsewhere for owners but excluded from the headline denominator.
- Freeze the cohort and six fields. Closed envelope, delivery envelope, published bare-machine or net-weight value, exhaust connection, wall-side electrical input, and numeric operating or service clearance.
- Review only first-party material. Product pages, current manuals, FAQs, and manufacturer support articles.
- Assign one evidence status. Published requires a usable scoped value. Partial includes missing companions, approximate values, adapter-only output, or listing-specific evidence. Conflicts remain conflicts. Not published is never scored as zero.
- Recompute the totals. Strict coverage equals published observations divided by all applicable observations. Partial evidence receives no fractional strict credit.
- Keep affiliate status out. Commission eligibility does not affect cohort inclusion, evidence status, display order, or calculation.
Small sample; useful questions.
- 8 machines across two brands cannot establish category-wide or brand-wide performance.
- The audit measures public documentation found under a fixed method, not facts a seller might provide privately or on a delivered nameplate.
- Manufacturer pages change. The dated edition supports reproducibility; the live database may later carry corrections.
- “Published” means documented for preliminary planning—not accurate for every SKU, bundle, revision, region, site, or use.
- No field status determines that a machine or room is safe, permitted, installable, or a good purchase.
Reuse the finding with its scope attached.
Suggested citation: LaserRoomReady. “2026 Laser Installation Documentation Benchmark.” Edition 2026.1, September 11, 2026. When quoting a statistic, retain the sample of 8 models across two brands, the U.S.-market cutoff, and the “documentation coverage—not safety or product quality” qualifier.
The live installation database added xTool F-series records on September 14, 2026. Those later records are intentionally not inserted into this frozen benchmark denominator.
Turn the missing fields into a purchase checklist.
Select up to three machines in the database, then carry the exact unknowns into delivery, workshop, and vent planning.
